Your primary responsibilities will involve the precise installation of various air conditioning systems, ranging from residential split units and multi-split systems to light commercial package units and VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) systems. You will ensure that all installations adhere strictly to industry standards, manufacturer specifications, and local building codes, guaranteeing optimal performance, energy efficiency, and longevity of the installed equipment. This includes meticulous planning, accurate refrigerant handling, proper ductwork installation, and comprehensive system commissioning.
Beyond installations, your expertise will also extend to the intricate aspects of diagnostics, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance for a diverse range of cooling equipment. You will be expected to identify and resolve complex technical issues, perform routine inspections, clean components, and replace worn parts to prevent breakdowns and extend the lifespan of AC systems. Key Responsibilities
- Perform accurate and efficient installation of various types of air conditioning systems (split units, package units, VRF systems) in residential and commercial settings.
- Conduct thorough diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify and resolve electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration system faults.
- Execute preventative maintenance tasks, including cleaning coils, checking refrigerant levels, inspecting electrical components, and ensuring optimal system performance.
- Handle refrigerants responsibly, adhering to all environmental regulations and safety protocols.
- Install and repair ductwork, thermostats, and other HVAC-related components.
- Provide exceptional customer service, clearly communicating technical information and recommendations to clients.
- Maintain accurate records of all service and installation work performed.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and industry standards.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated with new technologies and best practices.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an AC Technician specializing in installation and cooling systems.
- Strong understanding of refrigeration cycles, electrical schematics, and HVAC system components.
- Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals.
- Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Physical ability to lift heavy equipment, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces or various weather conditions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical certification or diploma in HVAC/Refrigeration from a recognized institution.
- Certification in refrigerant handling (e.g., EPA 608 or equivalent).
- Experience with VRF systems and smart HVAC technologies.
- Knowledge of Jamaican building codes and safety regulations related to HVAC.
- Bilingual proficiency (English and Jamaican Patois) to better serve local clientele.
