Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Construction Supervisor with a strong focus on Project Coordination to join our dynamic team in Lubumbashi, Haut-Katanga Province. In this critical on-site role, you will be instrumental in overseeing the daily operations of construction projects, ensuring seamless coordination between various teams, contractors, and stakeholders. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This involves meticulous planning, proactive problem-solving, and effective communication across all project phases. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage daily construction activities on-site, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
- Coordinate effectively with project managers, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to maintain project workflow and resolve issues promptly.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential delays or obstacles, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards, safety procedures, and environmental regulations.
- Manage and allocate resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, efficiently to optimize productivity and control costs.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports, detailing site activities, resource utilization, and any deviations from the plan.
- Enforce strict health and safety policies and procedures, conduct toolbox talks, and ensure all personnel operate in a safe working environment.
- Train, mentor, and supervise construction workers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
- Review and interpret blueprints, schematics, and other construction documents to guide site activities.
- Participate in project meetings, providing updates and insights on site progress and operational challenges.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 5 years) as a Construction Supervisor or similar role in the civil engineering or building construction sector.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and safety regulations (OSHA, local standards).
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and coordinate diverse teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of liaising effectively with all levels of personnel and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications accurately.
- Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities and a proactive approach to site management.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various project sites as required.
- Fluency in English (verbal and written); knowledge of French or Swahili is a significant advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, CAPM).
- Experience working on large-scale industrial, mining, or infrastructure projects.
- Advanced first aid and safety certifications.
- Familiarity with local construction codes and regulatory requirements in DR Congo.
