Job Description

Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in accordance with relevant electrical codes and safety standards (e.g., Nigerian Electrical Installation Regulations).
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment (multimeters, circuit tracers) and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem promptly.
- Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, outlets, switches, and other components, ensuring secure and compliant connections.
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, based on job specifications, project requirements, and local electrical codes.
- Read and accurately interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to determine the method and sequence of assembly and wiring.
- Complete required documentation diligently, including detailed work orders, inspection reports, maintenance logs, and material requisitions.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring a safe working environment for self and colleagues.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to junior electricians or apprentices when required, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, and ensure proper handling, storage, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and inventory.
Required Skills
- Proven experience of at least 3 years as a licensed or certified electrician, demonstrating a strong track record.
- Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, and components (AC/DC circuits, control systems, power distribution).
- Proficiency in reading, understanding, and interpreting complex electrical blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.
- Strong understanding and practical application of national and local electrical codes, particularly Nigerian Electrical Safety Standards.
- Excellent diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills to efficiently resolve electrical faults.
- Ability to safely and effectively use various electrical tools, testing equipment (e.g., volt-ohm meters, insulation testers), and power tools.
- Exceptional attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to quality workmanship and operational excellence.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective interaction with clients, colleagues, and supervisors.
- Physical stamina, dexterity, and the ability to perform manual tasks, including lifting heavy equipment, bending, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces.
Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of a recognized Trade Test certificate (e.g., Trade Test I, II, or III) in Electrical Installation.
- Relevant professional certifications or licenses from recognized industry bodies in Nigeria.
- Extensive experience with both residential and commercial electrical projects, including new installations and renovations.
- A valid Nigerian driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Knowledge of renewable energy systems (e.g., solar panel installation, inverter and battery storage systems) is considered a significant advantage.
