As an MTN Field Technician, you will be the backbone of our operational excellence, ensuring reliable network connectivity and superior service delivery to our valued customers. Your role will be critical in performing installations, conducting preventative maintenance, and swiftly resolving technical issues across various MTN sites and customer locations within your assigned territory. You’ll work hands-on with cutting-edge telecommunications equipment, ranging from base transceiver stations (BTS) and fiber optic networks to power systems and transmission equipment. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in diverse environments.

Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain telecommunications equipment, including BTS, transmission links (microwave, fiber), and power systems.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections on network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions swiftly.
- Respond to service calls and emergency outages, working diligently to restore services within agreed-upon SLAs.
- Conduct site surveys for new installations and upgrades, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety standards.
- Generate accurate reports on daily activities, fault resolution, and inventory management.
- Adhere strictly to MTN's safety protocols and operational guidelines at all times.
- Collaborate effectively with NOC (Network Operations Center) and other technical teams to coordinate maintenance and fault resolution.
- Provide excellent customer service during on-site visits, representing MTN professionally.
Required Skills
- Proven technical expertise in telecommunications systems (GSM, UMTS, LTE, Fiber Optics).
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure and components.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Ability to work effectively at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
- Physical fitness to carry out duties involving lifting, climbing, and working outdoors.
Preferred Qualifications
- Higher National Diploma (HND) or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CCNA, Fiber Optic Technician, Certified Tower Climber).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a field technician role within the telecommunications industry.
- Familiarity with MTN's network architecture and equipment.
- Experience with power systems (generators, rectifiers, batteries) and environmental monitoring systems.
