Job Description
Are you a skilled and dedicated Plumber with a passion for precise pipework and meticulous maintenance? West Indies Home Contractors (WIHCON), Jamaica’s premier residential developer, is seeking an experienced Plumber to join our dynamic team in the vibrant Portmore region. This is an exceptional opportunity for a professional who thrives on ensuring the integrity and functionality of essential plumbing systems across a diverse portfolio of properties, including both new construction projects and established residential communities.
In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in the full lifecycle of our plumbing infrastructure. Your daily responsibilities will span from the meticulous installation of new plumbing systems in our pioneering housing developments, ensuring every connection is secure and every pipe is perfectly aligned, to the proactive maintenance and swift, effective repair of existing systems. You will address a wide range of tasks, including diagnosing complex issues, clearing stubborn blockages, repairing leaks, replacing faulty fixtures, and installing water heaters and other critical components. Working both independently and as part of a collaborative team of skilled tradespersons, you will adhere strictly to all safety protocols and local building codes, ensuring every project meets WIHCON’s uncompromising standards of quality and durability. Your expertise will directly contribute to the comfort, safety, and satisfaction of thousands of Jamaican families, making a tangible difference in the communities we build and serve. Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing equipment used for water distribution, waste disposal, and gas systems.
- Perform routine inspections of plumbing systems to identify and prevent potential issues.
- Diagnose plumbing problems and determine appropriate solutions.
- Assemble and install plumbing components, including water heaters, pumps, and sanitation systems.
- Cut, thread, and bend pipes to specifications using hand and power tools.
- Test plumbing systems for leaks and other malfunctions using pressure gauges and other equipment.
- Clear clogged drains and pipes using plungers, drain snakes, and other specialized tools.
- Adhere to all local building codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on each job.
- Provide emergency plumbing services as needed.
- Collaborate with other skilled trades and construction teams on larger projects.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Plumber in residential or commercial settings.
- Solid knowledge of plumbing systems, pipe materials, and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Proficiency in soldering, brazing, and pipefitting.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent manual dexterity and physical stamina.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Valid Jamaican driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or certification in Plumbing.
- Experience with advanced plumbing techniques or specialized equipment.
