Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, buffing, and vacuuming all floor surfaces.
- Thoroughly clean and sanitize all restrooms, ensuring they are consistently stocked with necessary supplies such as toilet paper, hand soap, and paper towels.
- Empty and clean waste bins throughout the facility, transport waste to designated disposal areas, and actively manage recycling efforts.
- Dust and polish all furniture, fixtures, display shelves, windows, and other surfaces to maintain a clean and professional appearance.
- Promptly clean up spills and other potential hazards safely and efficiently to prevent accidents and maintain a safe environment.
- Monitor and maintain an accurate inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, communicating needs for reordering well in advance.
- Conduct minor repairs and maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, tightening loose fixtures, performing basic plumbing checks, and addressing minor carpentry issues.
- Operate and meticulously maintain all cleaning equipment, ensuring its proper function, regular servicing, and adherence to operational guidelines.
- Assist with the setting up and dismantling of seasonal displays, special event equipment, or store fixtures as required.
- Adhere strictly to all company health and safety regulations, including the proper and safe use of cleaning chemicals and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Proactively report any major maintenance issues, damages, equipment malfunctions, or significant safety concerns to management promptly and clearly.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (at least 1 year) as a Janitor, Cleaner, Housekeeper, or in a similar building maintenance role, preferably in a commercial or retail setting.
- Strong practical knowledge of various cleaning chemicals, supplies, and modern cleaning equipment.
- Proficiency in operating cleaning machinery such as floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, and pressure washers.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of thoroughness in completing all assigned tasks.
- Demonstrable physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive tasks.
- Highly reliable, punctual, and possesses a strong sense of personal responsibility and accountability.
- Basic understanding of occupational health and safety procedures and precautions.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively as part of a larger team.
- Good verbal communication skills to report issues, receive instructions, and interact respectfully with staff and customers.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or its equivalent qualification.
- Relevant certification in facilities maintenance, sanitation, or a related trade field.
- Previous experience working specifically within a retail or commercial hypermarket environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic handyman skills for undertaking a wider range of minor repairs and general upkeep.
