Job Description
Are you a gifted music composer with a passion for storytelling through sound? The Allotment Agency is seeking a talented and versatile Music Composer to join our dynamic team on a contract basis, focusing on original soundtrack production for a diverse array of client projects. In this role, you will be instrumental in conceptualising, composing, and producing bespoke musical scores that elevate our visual narratives and resonate deeply with target audiences. You’ll work closely with our creative directors, art directors, copywriters, and video producers from initial concept development through to final delivery. We’re looking for someone who can interpret complex creative briefs, translate abstract ideas into evocative musical themes, and adapt their style to suit a wide spectrum of genres and emotional tones. From stirring orchestral scores to contemporary electronic soundscapes or upbeat acoustic tracks, your ability to craft music that enhances the emotional core of a project will be paramount.
You will be responsible for creating original compositions, arranging existing musical pieces where appropriate, and ensuring all sound elements are mixed and mastered to broadcast-quality standards. Key Responsibilities
- Compose original music scores for various advertising campaigns, brand films, and digital content.
- Collaborate closely with creative directors, producers, and other team members to understand project vision and musical requirements.
- Translate complex creative briefs into compelling musical compositions across diverse genres and styles.
- Arrange, orchestrate, and produce high-quality musical tracks.
- Mix and master soundtracks to professional, broadcast-ready standards.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery within set deadlines and budgets.
- Present musical concepts and compositions to internal teams and clients, incorporating feedback effectively.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of music production technologies, software, and industry trends.
- Ensure all work adheres to copyright laws and client brand guidelines.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a music composer for media (advertising, film, games).
- Exceptional portfolio demonstrating versatility across various musical genres and styles.
- Expert proficiency with Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Logic Pro X, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, or Cubase.
- Strong understanding of music theory, harmony, orchestration, and sound design principles.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced creative environment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret creative briefs and translate them into musical solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Music Composition, Music Production, Sound Design, or a related field.
- Experience with Foley recording, sound effects design, and voice-over editing.
- Familiarity with various virtual instruments and sample libraries.
- Previous experience working within an agency environment or with multiple commercial clients.
- Proficiency in music notation software (e.g., Sibelius, Finale).
