Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and budgets with a high degree of accuracy and according to Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS).
- Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Manage general ledger accounts, including reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end/year-end closing processes.
- Monitor financial performance against established budgets and forecasts, identifying variances, investigating discrepancies, and recommending corrective actions.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal audit requirements.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate transactions and vendor/client relationship management.
- Collaborate effectively with internal departments (e.g., claims, operations) to gather financial data and provide insightful financial analysis and support.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation, providing explanations, and responding to inquiries.
- Participate actively in financial planning, forecasting, and strategic budgeting activities.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement and optimization of financial systems, processes, and reporting tools.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably within a corporate or public sector environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting methodologies.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling) and experience with enterprise financial software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities with a keen eye for detail.
- High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to data integrity.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional accounting designation (CPA) or actively pursuing one.
- Experience with Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) and government financial reporting requirements.
- Familiarity with financial systems commonly used in the public sector or large organizations.
- Experience working with agricultural or insurance-related financial data and industry-specific challenges.
- Demonstrated experience in a role requiring complex financial analysis, forecasting, and strategic planning.
