Goodleaf Farms is expanding its reach and we are actively seeking dedicated Delivery Drivers to join our dynamic team in Truro, Nova Scotia. As a Delivery Driver, you will be the face of Goodleaf Farms, ensuring our freshly harvested greens arrive safely and on time at grocery stores, restaurants, and distribution centers across Nova Scotia and potentially other Atlantic provinces. Your role is critical in maintaining the integrity of our cold chain logistics and upholding our commitment to freshness and customer satisfaction. You’ll operate modern, well-maintained delivery vehicles, navigating diverse routes while adhering to all traffic laws and company policies. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate company delivery vehicles (vans/light trucks) to transport fresh produce from our farm to various client locations across Atlantic Canada.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all safety and operational standards are met.
- Load and unload produce carefully, ensuring proper handling to maintain product quality and integrity (cold chain management).
- Verify order accuracy against delivery manifests and obtain necessary signatures upon delivery.
- Follow designated routes and schedules, adapting to traffic and weather conditions as needed to ensure timely deliveries.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members regarding delivery status, issues, or delays.
- Adhere to all provincial and federal transportation regulations and company safety policies.
- Maintain cleanliness and basic upkeep of delivery vehicles.
- Represent Goodleaf Farms professionally and courteously to all customers and the public.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver’s license with a clean driving abstract.
- Proven experience (minimum 1 year) as a delivery driver or in a similar transportation role.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy packages (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading.
- Strong understanding of Nova Scotia road rules and safety regulations.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
- Clear communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cold chain logistics or handling perishable goods.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route optimization software.
- Basic mechanical knowledge for minor vehicle troubleshooting.
- Customer service experience in a delivery setting.
- Knowledge of other official languages (French) is an asset.
