Job Description

Access Bank Plc is seeking a vigilant and dedicated Security Guard to join our team in Gwagwalada, Abuja. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our premises, employees, customers, and assets within a corporate/private environment. As a Security Guard, you will be the first line of defense, maintaining a secure and orderly environment, deterring unauthorized activities, and responding promptly to any security incidents. Your duties will encompass a wide range of security protocols, including monitoring surveillance equipment, conducting regular patrols, controlling access points, and enforcing company security policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities

  • Patrol premises regularly to maintain order and establish presence, ensuring all areas are secure.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras and alarm systems, promptly reporting any suspicious activities or breaches.
  • Control access points, verifying credentials of personnel and visitors entering and exiting the property.
  • Respond to alarms and investigate disturbances, taking appropriate action as per company policy.
  • Enforce company security policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant environment.
  • Inspect and adjust security systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure operational readiness.
  • Protect company property and staff by maintaining a highly visible and professional presence.
  • Provide assistance to employees and customers in security-related matters when necessary.
  • Document and report all security incidents, irregularities, and unusual occurrences in detail.
  • Conduct thorough searches when authorized and required, adhering to legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Maintain a log of visitors, vehicle movements, and key issuance/returns.
  • Act as a deterrent to crime and unauthorized activities through proactive surveillance and observation.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a security guard or in a similar protective service role.
  • Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols.
  • Solid understanding of surveillance systems and alarm operations.
  • Outstanding observation skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate emergency equipment and perform basic first aid.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to perform patrol duties and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to make quick, sound decisions under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • SSCE/GCE/NECO certificate.
  • Previous experience in a corporate or financial institution security environment.
  • Security training certification from a recognized institution.
  • Basic knowledge of fire safety procedures and equipment.
  • Valid driver's license (optional but advantageous).
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
