Key Responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly, present menus, and inform them of daily specials with enthusiasm and expert knowledge.
- Take accurate food and beverage orders, ensuring all dietary restrictions and special requests are clearly communicated to the kitchen staff.
- Serve food and beverages promptly and efficiently, anticipating guest needs and responding to requests professionally.
- Monitor dining areas for cleanliness and organization, ensuring tables are bussed and reset quickly and correctly.
- Process payments accurately using our point-of-sale system and manage cash, debit, and credit card transactions.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of all menu items, including ingredients, preparation methods, and wine pairings.
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and other team members to ensure smooth service flow and guest satisfaction.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food handling and hygiene standards.
- Handle guest concerns or complaints with grace and escalate issues to management when necessary.
- Actively contribute to a positive and respectful work environment, fostering teamwork and mutual support.
Required Skills
- Minimum 6 months of experience in a full-service restaurant environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine desire to serve.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tables simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic math skills for handling transactions and calculating bills.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada (and preference for those with UK work permit eligibility/experience as per the special initiative).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a high-volume restaurant or similar hospitality setting.
- Proven ability to upsell menu items and provide recommendations.
- Serving It Right (SIR) certification or equivalent responsible beverage service training.
- Demonstrated experience in a diverse, international work environment, particularly in the UK.
- Fluency in additional languages is considered an asset.
