As a Cook at The Keg, you will be an integral part of our kitchen brigade, responsible for preparing high-quality dishes that delight our guests. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items to The Keg's specifications and quality standards, ensuring consistency and excellence.
  • Execute food preparation tasks such as chopping, dicing, and portioning ingredients with precision and efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized workstation, equipment, and storage areas in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor food levels and inventory, communicating needs to the Kitchen Manager to ensure smooth operations.
  • Adhere strictly to all food safety and sanitation guidelines (HACCP principles) to prevent cross-contamination and ensure guest safety.
  • Operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including grills, fryers, ovens, and slicers.
  • Collaborate effectively with all kitchen team members, including other cooks, dishwashers, and expediters, to ensure timely service.
  • Manage time effectively to complete tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Contribute to a positive and respectful work environment, upholding The Keg's values.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 1 year) as a Cook or Kitchen Helper in a high-volume restaurant or similar culinary environment.
  • Solid knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and kitchen procedures.
  • Ability to read and follow standardized recipes and portion control standards accurately.
  • Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations and practices.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a diverse team.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by restaurant operations.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), and work in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Culinary diploma or certificate from a recognized institution.
  • Food Handler's Certificate (or willingness to obtain one upon hire).
  • Experience in a steakhouse or fine dining establishment.
  • Familiarity with inventory management and ordering procedures.
