As a DJ with Soundsational, you won’t just be playing tracks; you’ll be curating experiences, reading the room, and orchestrating moments that people will cherish. Key Responsibilities
- Perform as a professional DJ at various events including weddings, parties, corporate functions, public gatherings, and private events.
- Curate dynamic playlists that cater to diverse audiences and event themes, demonstrating extensive music knowledge across multiple genres.
- Seamlessly mix tracks, beatmatch, and employ sound effects and transitions to maintain a high-energy and engaging atmosphere.
- Operate and troubleshoot professional DJ equipment, sound systems, and lighting rigs with proficiency and confidence.
- Engage positively with guests, effectively manage music requests, and make announcements in a clear and friendly manner.
- Set up, test, and tear down equipment efficiently and safely before and after each event, ensuring all gear is accounted for and handled with care.
- Ensure timely arrival and departure from all scheduled engagements, adhering to strict timelines and professional standards.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times, representing Soundsational Disco & DJ Hire with excellence and integrity.
- Collaborate proactively with event hosts, clients, and venue staff to understand and execute their musical preferences and event vision.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year (12 months) proven experience as a professional DJ in live event settings.
- Expert proficiency in beatmatching, mixing, and scratching techniques across various music formats.
- Extensive knowledge of music genres including Pop, R&B, Rock, Dance, Disco, 80s, 90s, current chart hits, classic anthems, and traditional Scottish music.
- Familiarity with industry-standard DJ software (e.g., Serato DJ, Rekordbox, Virtual DJ) and hardware (CDJs, turntables, controllers).
- Excellent crowd-reading abilities and adaptable musical selection skills to keep the dance floor alive.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a friendly, approachable, and engaging demeanor.
- Reliable transportation and a valid UK driving licence, with the ability to travel to various locations within Aberdeen and surrounding areas.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by event schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Portfolio or demo mixes showcasing your DJing style, versatility, and ability to energise a crowd.
- Experience with basic lighting design and DMX control operation for events.
- Proficiency in basic sound engineering principles and on-the-spot troubleshooting of audio equipment.
