Job Description
Are you a passionate and experienced vocal coach ready to inspire the next generation of singers? Belfast School of Performing Arts is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Vocal Coach to join our esteemed team. This full-time position involves delivering engaging and comprehensive vocal training to students of varying ages and abilities, from beginners to advanced performers. You will be responsible for developing individual and group vocal techniques, improving breath control, pitch, rhythm, and stage presence. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of vocal pedagogy across various genres, including musical theatre, pop, and classical, and will be adept at adapting teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles. Beyond technical instruction, you will play a crucial role in building students’ confidence, fostering their artistic expression, and preparing them for performances, auditions, and examinations. Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality individual and group vocal lessons to students across different age groups and skill levels.
- Develop and implement effective vocal exercises and techniques to improve pitch, tone, breath control, rhythm, and vocal projection.
- Guide students in vocal warm-ups, repertoire selection, interpretation, and performance techniques for various musical styles.
- Prepare students for BSPA showcases, public performances, auditions, and relevant examinations (e.g., ABRSM, Trinity College London).
- Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to students, nurturing their talent and building their confidence.
- Collaborate with other faculty members and choreographers for integrated performing arts productions.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and repertoire.
- Stay updated with current vocal pedagogy, industry trends, and new music genres.
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all students.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in vocal pedagogy and technique across multiple genres (e.g., musical theatre, pop, classical).
- Exceptional singing and piano accompaniment skills.
- Ability to teach students of varying ages and abilities (children, teenagers).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Proficiency in music theory and sight-reading.
- A genuine passion for working with young people and fostering their artistic growth.
- Valid Access NI (or equivalent) check, or willingness to obtain one upon offer.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Music, Vocal Performance, Music Education, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a vocal coach or singing teacher in a performing arts school or similar setting.
- Experience in directing vocal ensembles or choirs.
- Knowledge of music technology for recording and performance.
- First Aid certification.
