Job Description

Are you an analytical powerhouse with a keen eye for financial detail and a passion for risk assessment? Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough financial analysis of corporate and individual clients, including reviewing financial statements, cash flow projections, and business plans.
  • Assess credit applications, identify potential risks, and recommend appropriate credit limits and terms.
  • Prepare detailed credit appraisal reports, presenting findings and recommendations to senior management and credit committees.
  • Monitor existing credit portfolios for signs of deterioration and propose corrective actions or restructuring where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with UBA’s credit policies, lending guidelines, and all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Relationship Managers to understand client needs and structure appropriate financial solutions.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes affecting credit risk.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of credit risk management processes and tools.
  • Engage in client meetings and site visits as required to gather information and assess business operations.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in credit analysis within the banking or financial services sector.
  • Strong understanding of financial accounting, financial modeling, and ratio analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial data and draw sound conclusions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Sound knowledge of credit risk management principles and practices.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., MBA, Finance).
  • Professional certifications such as CFA, ACCA, or relevant risk management qualifications.
  • Experience with credit risk software and tools.
  • Knowledge of Nigerian and Pan-African banking regulations.
