Job Description

Are you a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with a passion for optimizing transportation and distribution networks? GIG Logistics is seeking an experienced Logistics Coordinator to join our vibrant team in Rumuodara, Port Harcourt. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of goods from our hubs to their final destinations, playing a critical part in our daily operations and customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the transportation process, from dispatching and routing to tracking and delivery, with a keen focus on maximizing efficiency, minimizing costs, and maintaining exceptional service levels. Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and monitor daily domestic and last-mile delivery operations within Port Harcourt and surrounding regions.
  • Optimize transport routes and schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries, utilizing available resources efficiently.
  • Manage dispatch activities, assigning tasks to drivers and ensuring adherence to delivery schedules and service standards.
  • Track and trace shipments from dispatch to delivery, proactively resolving any issues or delays that may arise.
  • Communicate effectively with drivers, internal departments, and customers regarding shipment status, potential delays, and delivery confirmations.
  • Maintain accurate records of transportation activities, including logs, manifests, and proof of delivery documents.
  • Monitor fleet maintenance schedules and ensure vehicles are in optimal working condition, coordinating with the maintenance team as needed.
  • Generate reports on operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation regulations and company policies, including safety standards.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in logistics coordination, transport management, or distribution operations.
  • Strong understanding of logistics, supply chain processes, and transportation regulations.
  • Proficiency in using logistics software, fleet management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions under pressure and adapt to changing operational demands.
  • HND or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with GIS/mapping software for route optimization.
  • Certification in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (e.g., CILT, APICS).
  • Familiarity with the geographical layout and traffic patterns of Port Harcourt and Rivers State.
  • Prior experience working with a major logistics or courier service provider.
