Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Recording Studio Assistant to join our dynamic team at Brighton Electric. This is an incredible opportunity for an enthusiastic individual passionate about music production and studio operations to gain invaluable hands-on experience in a busy, professional recording environment. As a Studio Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of our recording suites and rehearsal rooms, directly supporting our engineers, producers, and clients. You will be instrumental in maintaining the high standards Brighton Electric is known for, from technical setup to client hospitality. Key Responsibilities
- Assist recording engineers and producers with session setup and breakdown, including microphone placement, cable management, and equipment patching.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organisation, and operational readiness of all recording studios, control rooms, and communal areas.
- Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of studio equipment, identifying and reporting more complex issues to senior technical staff.
- Provide excellent client support, including welcoming artists, offering refreshments, and addressing any immediate needs or queries during sessions.
- Manage and organise studio inventories of cables, microphones, instruments, and other essential equipment.
- Assist with office administration tasks, including booking management, answering phones, and responding to general inquiries.
- Support live sound requirements for in-house events or showcases as needed.
- Prepare digital audio workstations (DAWs) with session templates and ensure software is up-to-date.
- Learn and adhere to all studio safety protocols and operational guidelines.
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative working environment for both staff and clients.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of audio signal flow and recording studio equipment (microphones, consoles, DAWs).
- Proficiency with common operating systems (Windows/macOS) and general computer literacy.
- Excellent organizational skills and a meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and friendly demeanour.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical stamina to lift and move heavy equipment (up to 25kg) and stand for extended periods.
- A genuine passion for music and the music industry.
Preferred Qualifications
- A diploma or degree in Music Production, Audio Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in a recording studio, live sound venue, or similar creative environment.
- Familiarity with specific DAWs such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or Ableton Live.
- Basic knowledge of music theory or ability to play a musical instrument.
- Proven experience with client interaction in a professional setting.
