Are you a skilled Software Engineer with a passion for building robust, scalable solutions and an interest in global operations? State Street is seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our Global Mobility Technology team in Kansas City. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining sophisticated software applications that support State Street’s global workforce mobility programs. This involves creating systems that streamline international assignments, expatriate management, immigration compliance, and global talent deployment across our extensive network of offices worldwide. You will work within an Agile framework, collaborating closely with HR Global Mobility specialists, legal teams, and other engineering teams to translate complex business requirements into elegant and efficient technical solutions. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement scalable, high-performance software solutions for global mobility programs using modern development practices.
- Collaborate with product owners, HR Global Mobility teams, and other stakeholders to gather requirements, define specifications, and ensure successful project delivery.
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code in accordance with established coding standards and best practices.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and support.
- Conduct thorough testing, debugging, and performance tuning to ensure software quality and reliability.
- Contribute to architectural discussions and decision-making for future system enhancements and technology adoption.
- Ensure developed solutions adhere to security, compliance, and data privacy regulations relevant to global mobility (e.g., GDPR, local immigration laws).
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential application to enhance our global mobility platforms.
- Automate deployment and operational tasks using CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code principles.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of professional experience in software development using Java, Python, C#, or similar object-oriented languages.
- Proficiency with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and strong SQL querying skills.
- Experience with web service development (RESTful APIs) and microservices architecture.
- Solid understanding of front-end technologies (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js) and associated frameworks.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and cloud-native application development.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a commitment to producing high-quality code.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a relevant technical field.
- Experience with HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, SAP SuccessFactors) or specialized global mobility software.
- Understanding of international HR principles, immigration processes, and global payroll considerations.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Gitlab CI/CD).
- Experience working in the financial services industry or a large, globally distributed organization.
- Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified Developer, Azure Developer Associate).
