Job Description
Sutter Health is seeking a dedicated and culturally competent Social Worker with a passion for international relations and workforce support to join our dynamic team in Sacramento, California. This unique role, ‘Social Worker – International Recruitment,’ is designed to provide comprehensive psychosocial support and resource navigation to our esteemed internationally recruited healthcare professionals and their families. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in assisting international recruits with the multifaceted challenges of relocating to a new country and integrating into a new professional and social environment. This includes addressing cultural adjustments, navigating the U.S. healthcare system, accessing community resources, and providing emotional support to both the employee and their family. You will work collaboratively with our Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, and legal teams to develop and implement tailored support programs that foster a welcoming and inclusive experience for our international staff. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive psychosocial support and resource navigation to internationally recruited healthcare professionals and their families during their relocation and integration process.
- Conduct thorough needs assessments to identify individual and family challenges related to cultural adjustment, professional integration, housing, education, and social services.
- Collaborate closely with HR, Talent Acquisition, and legal departments to ensure a coordinated and holistic support system for international staff, particularly concerning immigration and onboarding.
- Develop, implement, and facilitate culturally sensitive orientation programs, workshops, and support groups tailored to the needs of international recruits.
- Act as a primary liaison between international staff and various community resources, including housing agencies, schools, healthcare providers, and social support networks.
- Offer crisis intervention, counseling, and emotional support to individuals and families experiencing difficulties related to relocation or cultural assimilation.
- Advocate for the unique needs of international staff within the organization and the broader community, promoting an inclusive and understanding environment.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and timely documentation of services provided and client interactions.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of policies and procedures related to international recruitment support and staff well-being.
- Stay informed on best practices in international workforce integration and cultural competency.
Required Skills
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of California.
- Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 5 years of post-MSW clinical social work experience, with at least 2 years working with diverse populations or in a multicultural setting.
- Demonstrated strong understanding of cultural competency and cross-cultural communication principles.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and exercise sound judgment in complex situations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong problem-solving and advocacy skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in international recruitment, global mobility, immigration support, or refugee/immigrant services.
- Fluency in a second language commonly spoken by internationally recruited professionals (e.g., Tagalog, Mandarin, Spanish, Hindi).
- Knowledge of U.S. immigration processes and their psychosocial impact on individuals and families.
- Experience working within a large, integrated healthcare system or academic medical center.
- Certification or advanced training in cultural competency or diversity and inclusion.
