Key Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing daily lesson plans and educational activities.
- Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to students needing additional support.
- Support classroom management and help maintain a positive and orderly learning environment.
- Prepare instructional materials, visual aids, and classroom displays as needed.
- Supervise students during non-instructional times, including lunch, recess, and transitions.
- Assist students with special needs, adhering to individualized education plans (IEPs) if applicable.
- Monitor student progress and report observations to the lead teacher.
- Help with administrative tasks such as record-keeping, grading, and organizing classroom supplies.
- Foster a positive relationship with students, parents, and school staff.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities as required.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children and adolescents
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under the direction of a lead teacher
- Basic organizational and time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student information
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic school environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish, Vietnamese, or other languages spoken in our diverse community)
- Knowledge of various teaching methodologies and classroom management techniques
- Ability to utilize basic educational technology (e.g., smartboards, learning software)
