Job Description
GAC Shipping (Nigeria) Ltd. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Procurement Officer with a strong background in supply chain management and logistics support to join our dynamic team in Marina, Lagos Island. This pivotal role is at the heart of our operational efficiency, ensuring that all necessary goods, services, and resources are acquired cost-effectively, ethically, and in a timely manner to support our vast range of shipping, logistics, and marine services. The Procurement Officer will be instrumental in managing the end-to-end procurement process, from identifying supplier needs and conducting market research to negotiating contracts, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring seamless delivery. You will play a critical role in optimizing our supply chain, reducing operational costs without compromising quality or service delivery, and enhancing our strategic sourcing capabilities. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the entire procurement cycle, from requisition to order placement and delivery.
- Source, evaluate, and select suppliers based on price, quality, delivery, and service.
- Negotiate favorable terms, conditions, and pricing with vendors to achieve cost savings.
- Develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
- Monitor and expedite orders to ensure timely delivery and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
- Conduct market research to identify new products, suppliers, and procurement strategies.
- Manage inventory levels to optimize stock and minimize carrying costs.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant procurement policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with logistics and operations teams to ensure seamless supply chain flow.
- Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, savings, and vendor performance.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of procurement processes and systems.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Procurement Officer or in a similar supply chain role.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
