Job Description
We are seeking a meticulous and dedicated Bookkeeper/Accounts, Finance Clerk to join our dynamic team in August Town, Kingston. This crucial role involves maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and supporting the overall financial health of our operations. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the integrity and compliance of our financial data, contributing directly to our operational efficiency and strategic decision-making. You will be responsible for a range of accounting tasks, from daily ledger entries to assisting with month-end close processes. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to accuracy in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Process invoices, receipts, and payments promptly and accurately.
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial accounts regularly to ensure accuracy.
- Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, as required.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Manage petty cash and expense reports, ensuring proper documentation and authorization.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and relevant financial regulations.
- Assist in the preparation for audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
- Communicate effectively with vendors, clients, and internal departments regarding financial matters.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records in a timely manner.
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned by the finance manager.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, PeachTree, SAP B1)
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial statements.
- Excellent data entry skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- High degree of integrity and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's Degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Certification in bookkeeping or accounting (e.g., AAT, CAT).
- Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Familiarity with Jamaican tax regulations and statutory requirements.
