Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analyses in accordance with IFRS and company policies.
- Perform detailed reconciliations of general ledger accounts, bank statements, and other financial records.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation, explanations, and analyses.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and internal controls.
- Identify and investigate discrepancies, providing recommendations for resolution and process improvement.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of effective accounting procedures and internal control systems.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and provide accounting support as needed.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in an accounting or audit role, preferably within the financial services sector.
- Solid understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, or CMA.
- Experience with financial modeling and data analysis tools.
- Knowledge of Jamaican tax regulations and financial reporting requirements for regulated entities.
- Prior experience working with an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
- Demonstrated experience in internal control assessment and implementation.
