Job Description
Burton Snowboards is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Cleaner to join our facilities team in Burlington, Vermont. This isn’t just a standard cleaning role; it’s a unique opportunity to contribute to our vibrant campus environment while also providing crucial administrative support to our international employees regarding visa processes. As a Cleaner, your primary responsibilities will involve maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of our offices, common areas, restrooms, and other facilities to the highest standards. Beyond the vital cleaning duties, you will also serve as a key point of contact and administrative support for our international staff navigating visa-related inquiries. This ‘Visa Assistance’ component means you’ll be coordinating with our HR team and external immigration partners, assisting employees with documentation, scheduling appointments, and providing general guidance to ensure a smooth transition and compliance for our valued global contributors. This dual role requires a proactive individual with exceptional organizational skills, a strong work ethic, and a high degree of discretion and empathy. Key Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning tasks including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and waste removal in offices, common areas, restrooms, and kitchens.
- Sanitize and disinfect high-touch surfaces regularly to maintain a healthy and safe environment.
- Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and submitting requisitions as needed.
- Conduct periodic deep cleaning of specific areas and equipment as per schedule or request.
- Report any maintenance issues, damages, or safety hazards observed to the facilities management.
- Provide administrative support to international employees for visa-related processes, acting as a liaison with HR and external immigration services.
- Assist employees with gathering necessary documents, completing forms, and scheduling appointments for visa applications and renewals.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion regarding all employee personal and immigration information.
- Provide basic informational guidance and resources to employees regarding visa timelines and requirements (without providing legal advice).
- Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor, fostering a welcoming atmosphere for all staff and visitors.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in commercial or residential cleaning/janitorial services (minimum 1 year).
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to complete assigned tasks.
- Basic computer proficiency for scheduling and communication.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact respectfully with a diverse workforce.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity.
- Physical ability to perform cleaning duties, including lifting, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience in an administrative support role, particularly involving international employee relations or immigration processes.
- Familiarity with basic immigration terminology or processes.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a strong plus (e.g., Spanish, French, German).
