Key Responsibilities
- Operate HGV Class 1 (C+E) vehicles safely and efficiently, adhering to all road traffic laws and company policies.
- Conduct thorough pre-and post-journey vehicle checks, ensuring all loads are secure and vehicles are roadworthy.
- Manage and maintain accurate delivery and collection documentation, including digital tachograph records.
- Ensure timely deliveries and collections, maintaining schedules and communicating any potential delays.
- Provide exceptional customer service when interacting with clients during delivery and collection.
- Adhere strictly to Driver's Hours Regulations and Working Time Directives.
- Report any vehicle defects, accidents, or incidents immediately and accurately.
- Maintain cleanliness and good condition of the vehicle at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Valid Driver Qualification Card (CPC).
- Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) of commercial HGV driving experience.
- Strong understanding of driver's hours regulations and road safety.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrable commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.
- A clean and professional appearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various types of trailers (e.g., curtainsiders, box trailers).
- Knowledge of the UK road network, particularly the Midlands region.
- Previous experience working for a large logistics or parcel delivery company.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including nights and weekends, as required.
