Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex medical laboratory tests and analyses on patient samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, troubleshooting as needed.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of test results by strictly adhering to quality control procedures and laboratory protocols.
- Prepare reagents, solutions, and controls according to standard operating procedures.
- Record and report test results accurately and in a timely manner, utilizing laboratory information systems (LIS).
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to provide critical diagnostic information.
- Participate in proficiency testing programs and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, infection control policies, and regulatory guidelines (CLIA, CAP, OSHA).
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in performing a wide range of clinical laboratory tests (hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, urinalysis)
- Strong understanding of laboratory quality control and assurance principles
- Ability to operate and maintain automated laboratory analyzers
- Excellent aseptic technique and infection control practices
- Accurate data entry and record-keeping skills
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS)
Preferred Qualifications
- ASCP or AMT certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or equivalent international certification
- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field
- Previous experience in an acute care hospital laboratory setting
- Experience with specific laboratory instrumentation used at INTEGRIS Health
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to new technologies and methodologies quickly
- Experience in training or mentoring junior staff
