We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Technician to join our dynamic team in Bismarck, North Dakota. The Electrical Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, and repair of electrical systems and equipment across our generation, transmission, and substation facilities. This includes working with high-voltage equipment, control systems, protective relays, and communication systems critical to our operations. You will be instrumental in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and uninterrupted operation of our electrical infrastructure, playing a vital role in our commitment to delivering reliable power. This position requires a proactive problem-solver with a strong commitment to safety and continuous learning. You will collaborate with engineers, operations personnel, and other technicians, contributing to a culture of excellence and mutual support. Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment and systems, including switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, protective relays, and control systems.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and calibration of electrical components to ensure optimal performance and compliance with industry standards.
  • Perform inspections and diagnostic tests to identify and resolve electrical issues, using advanced testing equipment.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and company policies.
  • Assist in commissioning new electrical installations and upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inventory.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and other technical teams on projects and problem-solving.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency breakdowns as required.
  • Identify opportunities for system improvements and efficiency enhancements.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in electrical theory, principles, and applications.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for complex electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
  • Experience with various electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, relay testers).
  • Thorough understanding of safety practices and regulations related to high-voltage electrical work.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher in Electrical Technology, Power Systems, or a related field.
  • Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent certification.
  • Experience in power generation, transmission, or utility environments.
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), and distributed control systems (DCS).
  • Experience with protective relaying principles and testing.
