Key Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense prescription medications and verify the accuracy of prescriptions filled by technicians.
- Provide comprehensive medication counseling to patients regarding dosage, administration, potential side effects, and drug interactions.
- Conduct medication therapy management reviews and identify opportunities for improved patient outcomes.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Monitor patient drug therapies and provide intervention as necessary to prevent adverse drug reactions.
- Maintain strict adherence to all federal, state, and local pharmacy laws and regulations.
- Oversee and guide pharmacy technicians and support staff, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to protocols.
- Participate in community health initiatives and provide immunizations, health screenings, and wellness programs.
- Manage inventory and ensure proper storage and handling of pharmaceutical products.
- Handle patient inquiries and resolve medication-related issues with empathy and professionalism.
Required Skills
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution
- Current and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of Nebraska, or eligibility to obtain one
- Strong clinical knowledge and understanding of pharmacology, pharmacotherapy, and drug interactions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centric approach
- Proficiency in pharmacy management software and general computer applications
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume retail pharmacy setting
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail pharmacy environment
- Immunization certification
- Experience with medication synchronization programs
- Bilingual proficiency (e.g., Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic) is a plus, but not required
