Job Description

We are actively seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Mechanical Engineer with a specialization in Industrial and Maintenance applications to join our vibrant team in Port Harcourt. This pivotal role involves overseeing the installation, proactive maintenance, and meticulous repair of a wide range of critical mechanical equipment and machinery integral to our industrial projects and client operational facilities. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and rigorously monitor comprehensive preventative and corrective maintenance programs for diverse industrial machinery and equipment, ensuring maximum uptime and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct thorough on-site inspections, expertly diagnose complex mechanical faults, and perform meticulous root cause analysis on equipment failures to prevent recurrence and improve reliability.
  • Oversee the precise installation, seamless commissioning, and safe decommissioning of various mechanical systems, ensuring strict adherence to project specifications, industry standards, and stringent safety protocols.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, comprehensive maintenance logs, and meticulous documentation for all engineering activities, equipment performance metrics, and compliance records.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including operations, electrical, instrumentation, and project management to optimize system performance, troubleshoot complex interdisciplinary issues, and achieve project goals.
  • Ensure unwavering compliance with all relevant industry standards, local and international safety regulations, and environmental policies throughout all maintenance and engineering activities.
  • Manage spare parts inventory efficiently, procure necessary components and tools, and coordinate strategically with vendors to ensure timely availability of materials for ongoing operations and projects.
  • Provide expert technical guidance, mentorship, and practical training to junior engineers and maintenance technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, skill development, and knowledge sharing within the team.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and enterprise asset management (EAM) software.
  • Strong fundamental understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, stress analysis, and material science.
  • Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in industrial equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair (e.g., pumps, compressors, turbines, piping systems, heat exchangers, valves).
  • Ability to accurately read and interpret complex technical drawings, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to issue resolution.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of working effectively and collaboratively in a diverse, team-oriented industrial environment.
  • Comprehensive familiarity with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and best practices in an industrial setting, with a strong commitment to safety.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Membership with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) or Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).
  • Certifications in specific industrial machinery or maintenance technologies (e.g., vibration analysis, reliability engineering, NDT techniques).
  • Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor) for design review and modification purposes.
  • Prior hands-on experience in the oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, or heavy manufacturing industries.
  • Project management experience or certification (e.g., PMP, Prince2) is a plus.
