Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and internal company policies.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly general ledger reconciliations, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial data.
- Process various journal entries, maintain detailed accounting records, and ensure proper documentation of all financial transactions.
- Actively support and contribute to the efficient execution of month-end and year-end close processes.
- Reconcile bank statements, inter-company accounts, and other critical balance sheet accounts.
- Provide comprehensive support during internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and offering clear explanations.
- Prepare various financial analyses and management reports as required to support strategic decision-making.
- Ensure strict adherence to established financial controls, policies, and procedures.
- Participate actively in process improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and effectiveness within the finance department.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality and discretion regarding all financial information.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field (or equivalent professional qualification, e.g., National Diploma in Accountancy).
- Solid foundational understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting frameworks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (intermediate level required, including pivot tables and formulas).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as a valued member of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of integrity, ethical conduct, and professional accountability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Membership or actively working towards a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CPA, ICAZ).
- Prior internship, attachment, or limited practical experience in a finance or accounting department.
- Familiarity with enterprise accounting software packages (e.g., SAP, Pastel, Oracle Financials).
- Exposure to or experience within the FMCG or manufacturing sector.
