Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with all aspects of personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and oral hygiene, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
  • Support residents with mobility and transfers, using appropriate equipment and techniques safely.
  • Help residents with their nutritional needs, assisting during mealtimes, encouraging hydration, and documenting intake.
  • Monitor and accurately record residents' vital signs, health status, and any changes in their condition, promptly reporting concerns to senior nursing staff.
  • Engage residents in meaningful social activities, conversations, and recreation to promote mental stimulation and overall well-being.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for residents, adhering to infection control policies.
  • Administer prescribed medications under the direct supervision of a qualified nurse, if trained and competent to do so.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential care records, ensuring all documentation complies with MHA policies and CQC guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with residents, their families, and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and MHA's code of conduct at all times.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 12 months proven experience as a Healthcare Assistant or a similar caregiving role.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent recognized qualification/experience).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrable patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for caring for older adults.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding vulnerable adults and relevant care principles.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as required.
  • A commitment to continuous professional development and learning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
  • Experience working with individuals living with dementia or complex care needs.
  • Basic First Aid certification.
  • Knowledge of UK care home regulations and CQC standards.
  • Previous experience working in a culturally diverse environment.
