Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with all aspects of personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and oral hygiene, ensuring their comfort and dignity.
- Support residents with mobility and transfers, using appropriate equipment and techniques safely.
- Help residents with their nutritional needs, assisting during mealtimes, encouraging hydration, and documenting intake.
- Monitor and accurately record residents' vital signs, health status, and any changes in their condition, promptly reporting concerns to senior nursing staff.
- Engage residents in meaningful social activities, conversations, and recreation to promote mental stimulation and overall well-being.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for residents, adhering to infection control policies.
- Administer prescribed medications under the direct supervision of a qualified nurse, if trained and competent to do so.
- Maintain accurate and confidential care records, ensuring all documentation complies with MHA policies and CQC guidelines.
- Communicate effectively and empathetically with residents, their families, and multidisciplinary team members.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and MHA's code of conduct at all times.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 12 months proven experience as a Healthcare Assistant or a similar caregiving role.
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent recognized qualification/experience).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Demonstrable patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for caring for older adults.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding vulnerable adults and relevant care principles.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays, as required.
- A commitment to continuous professional development and learning.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
- Experience working with individuals living with dementia or complex care needs.
- Basic First Aid certification.
- Knowledge of UK care home regulations and CQC standards.
- Previous experience working in a culturally diverse environment.
