Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our corporate office in Abuja. This pivotal role involves managing the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with both internal policies and external regulations. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of our financial records, supporting various departments with financial insights, and contributing to the overall financial health of the firm. You will be responsible for a range of accounting duties, from preparing financial statements and managing general ledger accounts to assisting with budgeting and forecasting. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and proper classification of transactions.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Reconcile bank statements, intercompany accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, monitoring variances and providing explanations.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Oversee payroll processing and related statutory deductions and remittances.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, including VAT, WHT, and corporate income tax.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Provide financial reports and analysis to management to aid in decision-making.
  • Stay updated with accounting standards (IFRS) and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in corporate accounting.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (IFRS) and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and MS Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA).
  • Experience within a professional services firm or a large corporate environment.
  • Knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and regulations.
  • Experience with financial modeling and data analysis tools.
