Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and patch IBM Db2 database servers and related components on various platforms.
  • Monitor database performance proactively, identify potential bottlenecks, and implement effective tuning strategies for optimal efficiency and resource utilization.
  • Perform comprehensive database backup and recovery operations, ensuring data integrity, rapid recoverability, and business continuity.
  • Manage database security, including user access, roles, and privileges, in strict compliance with organizational security policies and industry best practices.
  • Develop and implement robust database maintenance plans, including regular reorgs, runstats, and sophisticated space management techniques.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex database-related issues promptly, providing expert support and timely incident resolution to minimize downtime.
  • Participate actively in capacity planning and performance analysis to accurately predict future growth and ensure system scalability.
  • Collaborate closely with application development teams to optimize SQL queries, refine database designs, and ensure seamless application integration.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of database configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Stay current with the latest IBM database technologies, industry trends, and best practices through continuous learning and professional development.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as an IBM Db2 Database Administrator.
  • Proven proficiency in Db2 database installation, configuration, and migration on Linux/Unix platforms.
  • Strong expertise in database performance tuning and optimization techniques (e.g., SQL tuning, indexing strategies, buffer pool tuning).
  • Solid understanding and practical experience with various database backup and recovery strategies (e.g., HADR, TSM).
