Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components and systems for various Tesla products, including electric vehicles, energy storage, or manufacturing equipment.
- Perform detailed engineering analysis, including FEA (Finite Element Analysis) for structural, thermal, and vibration performance.
- Create and maintain 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation in accordance with company standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, manufacturing, supply chain, test) to ensure seamless integration and manufacturability of designs.
- Conduct hands-on prototyping, testing, and validation of designs to meet performance, reliability, and cost targets.
- Identify and implement design improvements to enhance product performance, reduce costs, and optimize manufacturing processes.
- Manage projects from concept through production, adhering to aggressive timelines and quality standards.
- Present design concepts, analysis results, and project updates to senior leadership and technical teams.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD Inventor).
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, and material science.
- Experience with FEA tools for structural, thermal, and vibration analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to take designs from concept to production.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong analytical mindset.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
- Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
- Familiarity with various manufacturing processes (machining, casting, injection molding, stamping).
- Experience in the automotive, aerospace, or renewable energy industries.
- Knowledge of battery systems, thermal management, or powertrain components.
