Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems for various Tesla products, including electric vehicles, energy storage, or manufacturing equipment.
  • Perform detailed engineering analysis, including FEA (Finite Element Analysis) for structural, thermal, and vibration performance.
  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and engineering documentation in accordance with company standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, manufacturing, supply chain, test) to ensure seamless integration and manufacturability of designs.
  • Conduct hands-on prototyping, testing, and validation of designs to meet performance, reliability, and cost targets.
  • Identify and implement design improvements to enhance product performance, reduce costs, and optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Manage projects from concept through production, adhering to aggressive timelines and quality standards.
  • Present design concepts, analysis results, and project updates to senior leadership and technical teams.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, AutoCAD Inventor).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, and material science.
  • Experience with FEA tools for structural, thermal, and vibration analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to take designs from concept to production.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong analytical mindset.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
  • Familiarity with various manufacturing processes (machining, casting, injection molding, stamping).
