As a vital member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of products, materials, and equipment throughout our fast-paced fulfillment center. In this role, you will operate various types of powered industrial trucks (PIT), including forklifts, order pickers, and reach trucks, to transport items across the warehouse floor, load and unload trucks, and stack materials in designated areas. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate powered industrial trucks (PIT), including forklifts, order pickers, and reach trucks, to move products, equipment, and materials.
- Load and unload trailers and trucks using appropriate equipment, ensuring proper weight distribution and securement of freight.
- Transport materials to and from designated storage areas, shipping docks, and production lines, optimizing space utilization.
- Perform daily safety checks and basic maintenance on PIT equipment, such as battery changes and fluid level checks, reporting any malfunctions or safety concerns immediately.
- Adhere strictly to all Amazon safety policies, procedures, and traffic control guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Utilize handheld scanners and warehouse management systems to accurately track inventory, complete tasks, and maintain data integrity.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, ensuring aisles are clear and products are stored correctly and securely.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimize workflow, resolve issues, and achieve daily operational goals.
- Assist with manual loading, unloading, and staging of products as needed, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 6 months of experience operating forklifts or other powered industrial trucks (PIT) in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
- Valid certification or ability to obtain certification for forklift operation.
- Ability to comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
- Strong commitment to safety procedures and practices, with a proactive approach to hazard identification.
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 49 lbs, and to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during shifts that may exceed 8 hours.
- Comfortable working in an environment with varying temperatures, loud noises, and frequently moving equipment.
- Basic computer navigation and scanning device proficiency for data entry and task management.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with inventory management systems (WMS) or RF scanners in a large-scale logistics operation.
- Prior experience in a fast-paced logistics, distribution, or fulfillment center setting.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and maintain composure in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
