Key Responsibilities
- Proactively review and moderate user-generated content (listings, reviews, photos, messages, profiles) to ensure strict compliance with Airbnb's Terms of Service and Community Standards.
- Identify and action content that violates policies, including but not limited to hate speech, harassment, graphic violence, illegal activities, and misinformation.
- Exercise sound and consistent judgment in applying complex content policies, often in ambiguous or highly sensitive situations, to protect both users and the platform's integrity.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including policy, legal, and product development, to provide valuable insights and contribute to the continuous improvement of moderation guidelines and tools.
- Accurately document moderation decisions and contribute to comprehensive reporting on content trends, policy effectiveness, and emerging online risks.
- Stay thoroughly updated on evolving content moderation best practices, platform changes, and new types of online threats and challenges.
- Participate actively in quality assurance processes to maintain a consistently high standard of content review accuracy and impartiality.
Required Skills
- 1+ year of experience in content moderation, trust & safety, or a related field, preferably within a tech or online community environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex policy decisions clearly and concisely.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities to assess content against guidelines and make swift, accurate decisions.
- High level of empathy and emotional intelligence, with the ability to handle sensitive and disturbing content professionally.
- Proficiency in using various software tools and platforms for content review and data entry.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while maintaining high quality and productivity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Communications, Sociology, Criminology, Psychology).
- Experience with policy enforcement in an online marketplace or social media context.
- Familiarity with online safety issues, legal regulations, and industry best practices in content moderation.
- Fluency in additional languages (e.g., Spanish, French, German) is a plus.
