Job Description

Are you passionate about making a difference and building impactful relationships? CARE Ethiopia is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as a Partnerships Officer. As a Partnerships Officer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the growth and diversification of our funding portfolio and strengthening our relationships with donors, local partners, and other key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the identification, research, and analysis of potential funding opportunities from diverse donors (institutional, private, foundations).
  • Assist in the development and writing of high-quality concept notes, proposals, and grant applications, ensuring alignment with donor requirements and CARE Ethiopia’s strategic priorities.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of current and prospective donors and partners, tracking communication and engagement.
  • Contribute to the preparation of donor reports, ensuring timely submission and accurate representation of program progress and financial expenditure.
  • Support the cultivation and stewardship of relationships with existing and potential donors, ensuring regular communication and engagement.
  • Collaborate with program teams to gather relevant information, success stories, and data for proposals and reports.
  • Participate in internal and external meetings related to partnerships, fundraising, and program development.
  • Support capacity building initiatives for local partners in areas such as proposal writing, financial management, and reporting.
  • Stay informed about donor trends, policies, and priorities relevant to CARE Ethiopia’s work.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the Partnerships Manager or senior leadership.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to articulate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Strong analytical and research capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented and multicultural environment.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience (even voluntary or internship) in a non-profit organization, development sector, or related field.
  • Knowledge of key donors and funding trends in Ethiopia or the Horn of Africa.
  • Familiarity with project management principles.
  • Fluency in Amharic or other local Ethiopian languages.
