Job Description
We are urgently seeking a skilled and passionate Camera Operator to join our dynamic team. This is a crucial role for a highly motivated individual eager to contribute to high-quality broadcast productions. Based in Downtown, Muncie, you will be responsible for operating various camera equipment to capture compelling footage for news, current affairs, documentaries, and other programming. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, a deep understanding of visual storytelling, and the ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced environments. Key Responsibilities
- Operate professional video cameras (HD and 4K) and associated equipment, including tripods, jibs, and stabilizers.
- Set up, position, and adjust cameras, lighting, and audio equipment according to production requirements and director's instructions.
- Collaborate closely with directors, producers, and other crew members to achieve desired visual outcomes and artistic vision.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on camera equipment to ensure optimal performance and readiness.
- Frame and compose shots effectively, maintaining continuity and adhering to broadcast standards.
- Adapt quickly to changing situations and unforeseen challenges during live broadcasts or field shoots.
- Ensure captured footage is of the highest technical and artistic quality, meeting BBC's strict guidelines.
- Contribute creative ideas for shot composition and visual storytelling to enhance overall production value.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Camera Operator in a broadcast or production environment.
- Expertise in operating a variety of professional video cameras and associated gear.
- Strong understanding of camera mechanics, lenses, lighting techniques, and composition.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues quickly and efficiently.
- Excellent visual and aesthetic judgment with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical ability to lift and move camera equipment as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Film, Television Production, Broadcast Journalism, or a related field.
