Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a company vehicle on assigned rural routes, adhering to all traffic laws and company safety policies.
  • Sort and load parcels and mail items into the delivery vehicle according to established procedures.
  • Deliver mail and packages to residential and commercial addresses accurately and efficiently.
  • Obtain signatures and collect payments when required, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing inquiries and resolving delivery issues professionally.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, and vehicle logs.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues promptly to ensure vehicle safety and operational readiness.
  • Handle various types of mail and packages, ensuring proper care and security throughout the delivery process.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and team members regarding route status, challenges, and completion.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to safety, conduct, and customer interaction.

Required Skills

  • Valid U.S. Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum 1 year of professional driving or delivery experience.
  • Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 50 lbs, and handle larger items with assistance.
  • Strong navigational skills and ability to use GPS devices and maps effectively.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities to manage routes efficiently.
  • Customer-focused with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in parcel delivery or a related field.
  • Familiarity with rural routes and areas around Fort Wayne, Indiana.
  • Experience with handheld scanning devices and delivery software.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or willingness to obtain one (not strictly required for all roles, but a definite plus for future growth).
