Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service, assisting clients with postage, parcel shipping, money orders, post office box services, and other postal products and services.
- Accurately process financial transactions using a point-of-sale system, handling cash, credit, and debit payments with integrity.
- Sort, distribute, and prepare incoming and outgoing mail and parcels for delivery or dispatch according to established procedures.
- Maintain organized and clean work areas, including stock replenishment, product display arrangement, and general office upkeep.
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding postal rates, tracking information, delivery standards, service offerings, and postal regulations.
- Adhere strictly to Canada Post's policies, procedures, and security protocols, including the secure handling of registered, insured, and certified mail.
- Assist in daily opening and closing procedures, accurately balancing cash drawers, and preparing comprehensive daily reports.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations, maintain efficiency, and provide seamless service delivery.
- Identify and escalate complex customer issues, service disruptions, or potential security concerns to supervisory staff promptly.
- Operate various postal equipment such as scales, franking machines, and computer systems with proficiency and care.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 6 months of recent experience in a customer service or retail environment.
- Proven ability to handle cash and process financial transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English.
- Excellent organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Ability to work effectively both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Physical capability to lift and move mail bins and parcels weighing up to 50 lbs (22.7 kg) and stand for extended periods.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a postal, logistics, or courier setting.
- Familiarity with Canada Post products and services.
- Ability to speak French is considered a valuable asset.
