Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate UX/UI Designer to join our product team in Schaumburg. In this role, you will be instrumental in crafting intuitive, engaging, and accessible user experiences for our diverse merchant base and their customers on the Shopify platform. You will work closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and content strategists to translate complex problems into elegant design solutions that drive merchant success and enhance the overall user journey. From initial concept and user research to wireframing, prototyping, and final high-fidelity designs, you’ll own the design process, ensuring our products are not just functional but delightful to use. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct user research, usability testing, and analyze user feedback to inform design decisions and iterate on products.
- Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and sitemaps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas.
- Design high-fidelity mockups and prototypes for various features and products across different devices and platforms (web, mobile).
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, and other designers to define, design, and implement innovative solutions.
- Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices, and standards within the team, contributing to our evolving design system.
- Present and defend design choices to stakeholders, clearly articulating rationale based on user research and design principles.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest UX/UI trends, techniques, and technologies, bringing fresh perspectives to our product development.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD
- Demonstrable UX/UI design skills with a strong portfolio of relevant projects
- Solid understanding of user-centered design (UCD) principles and methodologies
- Experience conducting user research, usability testing, and interpreting data
- Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction
- Ability to effectively communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions to teams and stakeholders
- Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS for effective collaboration with developers
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or a related field
- Previous experience designing for e-commerce platforms or SaaS products
- Familiarity with the Shopify ecosystem, including merchant needs and common apps
- Experience with motion graphics or animation in design
- Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices
