Job Description
Bell Canada is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Network Engineer to join our growing team in West Loop, Chicago. This pivotal role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining robust and scalable network infrastructures that support Bell’s cutting-edge communication services. As a Network Engineer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of our network systems, working with advanced technologies to meet the evolving demands of our operations. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, development, and security, to troubleshoot complex issues, optimize network performance, and contribute to strategic network planning. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain complex network infrastructure solutions (LAN, WAN, VPN, WLAN).
- Configure and troubleshoot network devices including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to optimize network efficiency and availability.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with security teams to ensure network security best practices are implemented and maintained.
- Participate in on-call rotations for critical network incident response and problem resolution.
- Evaluate new network technologies and recommend solutions to improve network architecture and capabilities.
- Perform regular network audits and capacity planning to anticipate future needs.
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in network engineering and administration.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), and switching technologies.
- Proficiency with Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent networking hardware.
- Experience with network security principles and firewall management (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet).
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, JNCIS, JNCIP).
- Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Ansible) for network automation.
- Experience with SD-WAN technologies.
- Master's degree in a related field.
