In this immediate hire position, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground electrical power lines and cables, ensuring reliable power delivery to homes and businesses.
As a Siemens Power Line Technician, you will work within a dynamic team, often outdoors and in varying weather conditions, to construct new lines, troubleshoot outages, and perform scheduled maintenance. Your expertise will be crucial in responding to emergencies, restoring power efficiently, and upholding the highest standards of safety and operational excellence. You will utilize a variety of specialized tools and equipment, including bucket trucks, digger derricks, and other utility vehicles. Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission lines and associated equipment.
- Perform diagnostic tests, troubleshoot electrical problems, and resolve power outages safely and efficiently.
- Operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, digger derricks, and other utility vehicles in accordance with safety standards.
- Inspect and replace power poles, transformers, insulators, and other electrical components.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Work collaboratively with crew members, engineers, and other stakeholders to complete projects on time and to specifications.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency calls outside regular working hours to restore power.
- Complete necessary documentation, including work orders, inspection reports, and safety checklists.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of a recognized Power Line Technician apprenticeship program
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as a Power Line Technician
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with an excellent driving record
- Proficiency in electrical theory, blueprint reading, and wiring diagrams
- Strong understanding of high-voltage electrical systems and safety procedures
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Journeyman Power Line Technician certification
- Experience with smart grid technologies and modern utility infrastructure
- First Aid and CPR certification
- OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification
- Associate’s degree in Electrical Technology or related field
