Key Responsibilities
- Directly supervise and manage construction crews and contractors, ensuring strict adherence to project plans, specifications, and safety procedures.
- Implement, monitor, and enforce Enbridge's comprehensive safety policies and protocols, including conducting daily safety briefings, regular site inspections, and hazard assessments.
- Coordinate daily construction activities, optimize resource allocation (personnel, equipment, materials), and manage project schedules to meet critical deadlines and budget constraints.
- Oversee quality control, ensuring all work performed meets or exceeds company standards, industry best practices, and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for engineers, project managers, environmental specialists, local officials, and other project stakeholders.
- Manage equipment and material logistics, including procurement, inventory tracking, and proper utilization to maximize efficiency.
- Proactively identify and resolve on-site issues, conflicts, and challenges, making informed decisions to prevent delays and maintain project momentum.
- Prepare and submit accurate daily progress reports, safety reports, incident reports, and other required documentation in a timely manner.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, professional growth, and teamwork within the crew.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in pipeline construction or heavy civil construction, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Demonstrated expertise in pipeline construction techniques, equipment operation, and material specifications.
- Thorough understanding of industry safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, DOT) and environmental compliance standards.
- Exceptional leadership, communication (verbal and written), and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and project specifications.
- Ability to work effectively in challenging outdoor environments, adapt to dynamic project conditions, and manage multiple priorities.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel to various job sites within the region.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Relevant industry certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or specific heavy equipment operator certifications.
- Prior experience with cathodic protection systems, integrity management programs, or utility locating.
- Familiarity with local Skokie/Illinois regulations, permitting processes, and utility coordination procedures.
