Job Description
Enbridge is actively seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health and Safety Officer for immediate hiring to join our dynamic team in Cicero, Illinois. As a Health and Safety Officer, you will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal health and safety regulations, as well as Enbridge’s rigorous internal policies and procedures. You will be on the front lines, conducting site inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations, providing crucial support and guidance to our field teams. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety programs and procedures in alignment with Enbridge policies and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Deliver engaging and effective safety training sessions to employees on various topics, including hazard recognition, emergency preparedness, and safe work practices.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive safety reports, metrics, and documentation to management and regulatory bodies.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to management and employees on all health and safety matters.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety initiatives and recommend improvements.
- Collaborate with operational teams to integrate safety into daily work processes and planning.
- Stay current with changes in health and safety legislation, industry best practices, and technological advancements.
- Manage and maintain safety equipment, ensuring proper functionality and availability.
Required Skills
- OSHA 30-Hour General Industry or Construction certification
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and job hazard analyses (JHAs)
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local health and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of training and influencing diverse teams
- Demonstrated ability to investigate incidents and determine root causes effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various operational sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) designation
- Experience with process safety management (PSM) and pipeline safety regulations (e.g., PHMSA)
- Experience in the energy, oil & gas, or utilities industry
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification
- Knowledge of environmental compliance and management systems (e.g., ISO 14001)
