Job Description
Join the Qantas team as an Airport Security Officer and play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our passengers, staff, and operations at our Lawrenceville station. As an integral part of our ground operations, you will be responsible for implementing and enforcing security procedures, conducting thorough inspections, and responding promptly to any security concerns or incidents. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough screening of passengers, baggage, and cargo in accordance with established security protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor surveillance systems and conduct regular patrols of airport facilities, including restricted areas, to identify and mitigate security risks.
- Respond effectively and efficiently to alarms, security breaches, and emergency situations, coordinating with relevant authorities as needed.
- Enforce airport and airline security regulations, ensuring compliance from all personnel and passengers.
- Perform access control duties, verifying identification and authorization for entry into secured zones.
- Prepare detailed reports on security incidents, observations, and daily activities.
- Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a professional and authoritative presence.
- Conduct security audits and inspections to ensure adherence to Qantas and airport security standards.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with security best practices and emerging threats.
Required Skills
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field.
- Strong observational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of interacting effectively with diverse individuals.
- Ability to remain calm, decisive, and professional in high-pressure and emergency situations.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications and security software.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Successful completion of a comprehensive background check and drug screening.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field.
- Prior experience in aviation security (e.g., TSA, airline security, airport police).
- Current certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED.
- Knowledge of TSA regulations and ICAO security standards.
- Experience with X-ray screening equipment and other security technologies.
