Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Environmental Technician to join our team in Downtown, Savannah. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct environmental monitoring activities including air, water, soil, and noise sampling according to established protocols.
  • Perform routine site inspections to identify potential environmental risks, non-compliance issues, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collect, record, and manage environmental data, ensuring accuracy and integrity for reporting purposes.
  • Prepare detailed environmental reports, documentation, and permits in compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., EPA, state environmental agencies).
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of environmental management systems (EMS).
  • Respond to environmental incidents or spills, assisting in containment, remediation, and reporting efforts.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to promote environmental awareness and best practices.
  • Support environmental impact assessments and contribute to project planning from an environmental perspective.
  • Maintain calibration and proper functioning of field equipment and instrumentation.
  • Stay current with evolving environmental regulations and industry best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in environmental sampling and monitoring techniques.
  • Strong understanding of federal (EPA) and state environmental regulations (e.g., Georgia EPD).
  • Excellent data collection, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate and concise environmental reports.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in both field and office environments.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification (or willingness to obtain quickly).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology, or a related scientific field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in an environmental technician or similar role within industrial or consulting sectors.
  • Experience with Geographical Information Systems (GIS) software.
  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene and safety practices.
  • Experience with environmental management systems (e.g., ISO 14001).
