Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team in Clearwater, Florida. As an Accountant at HSBC, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and expense analyses.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with accounting standards.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and external regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Participate in budget preparation and financial forecasting activities.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions as needed.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes and systems.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the financial services industry.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables) and accounting software.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA licensure.
- Experience with large ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle Financials).
- Familiarity with financial regulations and reporting requirements specific to banking.
