Job Description
ExxonMobil is seeking a skilled, proactive, and dedicated Mechanical Technician for an immediate start at our facility located near Black Rock, Bridgeport. This pivotal role involves performing critical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks on a wide array of mechanical equipment to ensure operational reliability, efficiency, and safety. As a Mechanical Technician, you will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity and performance of our sophisticated machinery, contributing directly to the seamless flow of our operations. Key Responsibilities
- Execute preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on various mechanical systems and equipment, including pumps, compressors, turbines, valves, piping, and rotating machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical malfunctions, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective repair solutions to minimize downtime and prevent recurrence.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, P&IDs, and manuals to facilitate troubleshooting and repair activities.
- Perform precision alignments, balance rotating equipment, and conduct necessary adjustments to optimize machinery performance and extend asset lifespan.
- Inspect, lubricate, and clean equipment regularly to ensure optimal functioning, prevent breakdowns, and adhere to maintenance schedules.
- Document all maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and findings accurately and thoroughly in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards, actively participating in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and incident prevention initiatives.
- Collaborate with operations personnel, engineers, and other technicians to plan, coordinate, and execute maintenance tasks efficiently and effectively.
- Identify opportunities for equipment reliability improvement, suggesting modifications or upgrades, and contributing to the development of maintenance best practices.
- Participate in ongoing training programs to enhance technical skills and stay updated with new technologies, maintenance techniques, and industry advancements.
Required Skills
- Proven expertise in industrial mechanical maintenance and repair, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for complex mechanical systems and equipment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, P&IDs, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Competence in using various hand and power tools, as well as specialized maintenance equipment (e.g., laser alignment tools).
- Solid understanding of safety protocols and procedures in an industrial, process-oriented environment.
- Ability to perform precision measurements, alignments, and equipment calibrations.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for technical documentation and team collaboration.
- Basic computer literacy for documentation, CMMS usage, and accessing technical resources.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree or technical certification in Mechanical Maintenance, Industrial Technology, Millwright, or a related engineering field.
- Experience with specific types of rotating equipment suchates as centrifugal pumps, reciprocating compressors, or gas turbines.
- Knowledge of vibration analysis, thermography, and other predictive maintenance technologies.
- Prior experience within the oil & gas, chemical, refining, or heavy manufacturing industry.
- Certifications in specific mechanical skills (e.g., welding, rigging, confined space entry, hot work).
