Key Responsibilities
- Design, analyze, and specify electrical systems and components for various projects, ensuring compliance with relevant British and international standards (e.g., BS, IEC).
- Develop detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and equipment specifications using CAD software and other design tools.
- Conduct electrical calculations, including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, and arc flash analysis.
- Perform technical reviews of designs, ensuring quality, safety, and adherence to project requirements and budgets.
- Collaborate with project managers, mechanical engineers, control engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate electrical systems seamlessly.
- Provide technical support during the installation, testing, and commissioning phases of projects, resolving any issues that arise.
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and external audiences.
- Stay abreast of emerging electrical engineering technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes.
- Participate in client meetings, site surveys, and project planning sessions.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrable experience in electrical system design and engineering.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN) and electrical simulation tools (e.g., ETAP, PSCAD, PSS/E).
- Strong understanding of power systems, industrial control systems, and building electrical infrastructure.
- In-depth knowledge of UK electrical regulations, standards (e.g., BS 7671 IET Wiring Regulations), and safety guidelines.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it.
- Experience with Siemens industrial automation products (e.g., PLCs, drives, SCADA systems).
- Familiarity with digital twin technologies and Building Information Modeling (BIM).
- Project management experience or certification.
- Experience in renewable energy systems or smart grid technologies.
